This week's episode of Motorweek Television (which airs in the U.S. on PBS stations) featured their last, brief, update on their long-term road test of the Insight. This is what they said:

"We say farewell to 2 ends of the automotive spectrum this week beginning with the innovative Honda Insight.

With both its 3 cylinder gasoline and 10 kilowatt electric engines running flawlessly for 4 months and nearly 3000 miles, our fuel economy average was 48.4 miles per gallon. While far from the 61 city 70 highway government ratings, it's a fair representation of where gasoline electric hybrid technology stands today.

Also good considering that we drove the sporty looking coupe not like some econo-box, but like, well, a sporty coupe, with a heavy gas pedal and a hard-working steering wheel. The Insight looks so willing, you just can't help it, and we think this little Honda is just a tease for hybrid vehicles yet to come."

Overall, their impressions of the Insight seem to be quite positive.

As has been the case with most reviewers, while Motorweek achieved impressive fuel efficiency figures, they just don't meet up to the efficiency that we know the Insight is capable of. While they admit to a lot of spirited driving, it seems that the learning curve of how to get the most out of the Insight just isn't met in the short tests these reviewers do.
