In the U.S., 2001 model year Insights are now being delivered to the first customers. While there are still many 2000 Insights that have not been sold yet, those who must have the cool new Monte Carlo Blue paint color may not have to wait much longer.

The first few owners of 2001 Insights to submit their information to InsightCentral.net are now listed in the Insight Owners Registry.

For those faced with a choice between a 2000 and 2001 Insight, these are the only differences we know of:

• 2001 models are no longer available in the Citrus Yellow Metallic paint color. This choice has been replaced with Monte Carlo Blue Pearl.
• Honda has increased the Insight's MSRP in the U.S. for the 2001 model year, by $100. The price for 2001 Insights is $18,980 USD for the base model, or $20,180 USD for the A/C-equipped Insight.

To know for certain whether you are looking at a 2000 or 2001 Insight, check the VIN number. The year code for 2000 vehicles is "Y", while for 2001 it is "1". The year code is the 10th digit of the VIN.

Later in the year, the CVT automatic transmission version of the Insight, with lower fuel efficiency but also lower emissions levels, will become available.
