Any of you want to have some fun? Compare the asking price for the "Volt" against some of the EV convesion kits available for vehicle bodies which are about the size of the Chevy Volt and see what range you might expect - for the same, if not half the price..With the new lithium cells now becoming available, those EV converted cars and the ones now being converted will probably more than double that range, a hundred or more miles per charge.

They mention lion in the article. They also mention that most people have a small commute, so the range isn't an issue, and for longer range it uses an ICE for either charging the batteries or for propulsion (I'm not sure which). It will be interesting to see this car make production, but I am still sitting on the fence concerning whether the American car makers will actually produce car with decent mpg ratings, or keep pushing the garbage that 30mpg is super!!!
