I actually had that happen to me about 15 years ago...scariest feeling in the world is to not be able to use your brake because a mat got bunched under there. I was quick enough to avoid an accident, but from that point on I always anchored my mats.
Anchoring the insight mats was scary just because I had to cut my prestine car...but in the end it was easy to do and I feel much safer having the mat anchored.
