I installed mine last night. It was clean and easy. Simply followed the attached instruction pages and that's it. The only tool you'll need but not included in the box is a cutter knife or x-acto or similar.
When you make a cutout on the floor carpet, note that the carpet is pretty thin (around 2mm?) and you don't need a lot of effort to cut through it. Underneath the carpet layer is those sound deadening cotton cloth which you do not need to cut through it, though no harm if you attempt to do so.
Now I wouldn't worry about the mat slipping forward and mess with the pedals.
