As long as the TPS voltage remains in a valid range, you will NOT get a check engine light. Disabling ground should bring the TPS voltage back to normal spec. Doing it live (while driving) should be no different than quickly moving your foot on the gas pedal.

I have some long term experience with the TPS voltage as I have made a special circuit for the CVT transmission that modifies the TPS voltage going to the Transmission Control Module so that under light engine load (using MAP sensor voltage) the TPS voltage is reduced a bit so the CVT stays in a better ratio for better MPG....Under a more heavy load, the voltage goes back to near normal levels. This allows the ratio not to change (causing a loss in MPG) when going up very short slight incline hills.

Since you are not removing the voltage by flipping the switch (only modifying the voltage) and the voltage will remain in a valid range, I guarantee the ECM will not trigger a check engine light
