Having a 2007 Honda Fit it was time to get rid of our 1998 Buick. It was between the 2010 Insight and the 2010 Prius. We went with the Prius because of the roomier rear seats, the supposed better gas mileage, and because my wife didn't like the auto stop feature on the Insight. Also we felt the Insight swaying a bit on the highway. We were just more impresses overall with the 2010 Prius.

After logging 4,000 miles on the Prius we have averaged 56mpg actual. The computer overestimates it so it shows 58.5 via the computer. The last 2 tanks the computer has shown 61mpg which is 58.5 actual. I really believe the Prius is a great car but lately I have been craving an Insight. I went and test drove one again last weekend and would really love for it to replace our Honda Fit. It was much more comfortable for me than the Fit, and let's face it, I love Hybrid technology. Plus now that the wife is used to driving a hybrid she would love the Insight to be our second car now too!

The point is they are both great cars in my opinion. Get one of each if you could! If that is not an option just research, compare, then follow your heart. If you do that there should be absolutely no regrets. I love both cars and really want to have one of each. I'm holding back because it doesn't look like it makes financial sense to trade in the Fit for the Insight but after my second test drive I really love the car now! It is comfortable, fun to drive, and I love the challenge of getting the most MPG's out of the hybrid system. Based on what I read here it looks like I should be able to get over 50mpg steadily with the Insight!
