I bought my all weather mats from Bernardi Honda. Cutting into the carpet was not that difficult. I first put the mats in place and marked the location by pressing a marking pen through the anchor holes. That made finding the exact location of the reccesses in the carpet easier. Instead of using a knife I purchased two new wood chisels at Home Depot (1/2" and 1/4"). Light pressure straight down with a chisel cut straight through the carpet. I used the 1/2" chisel for the long cuts and the 1/4" chisel to complete the retrangular cut-out. I cut out both of the rear recesses first then carefully measured the distance to the forward cut-outs (at least 29mm or 1 3/16") before cutting them out. From there it's a simple job to install the lock downs--just follow the instructions.
