Default Rebuilt transmission

Heard there was someone on here that rebuilds the manual trannys for around $300. My 2000s transmission is on its way out. Need a new one. Will send back core.

Scott (KYL3CYL) rebuilds them. But not for 300. His price used to be 750 + a 250 core charge + shipping. No idea what he charges now though.

[Edit]: he replaces all the bearings and grinds the clocking tabs to get rid of the infamous 3-2 and 2-1 grind also. Just a little FYI.

Good morning,

If your transmission is not popping out of gear that is good. To test it you can drive and put it in each gear and then romp on the gas several times if it stays in gear then that gear should be fine, try the next gear and do the same thing. If the transmission is popping out of gear the gear set for the one or ones that are popping need to be replaced to make it reliable. Gear sets add about $300.00 to the rebuild price.

I charge $750.00 for the rebuild. This includes all new bearings and seal, friction dampers, syncro mod, weld and grind the shift fork shafts to eliminate detent ball wear. Plus shipping, I ship UPS ground. The crate with transmission is aproximately 85lbs. Also, I offer machined flywheels, exchange. New clutch kits. Rear main seals. If you want to purchase a complete bearing set with friction dampers I offer this also, all OE parts for the bearings and seals.

I have crates built to ship rebuilt units out and cores back.

Also, there is a $400.00 refundable core charge for your core and my crate.

I know there are others here on the forum who indicate they rebuild them as well, however I don't know what parts they replace. I don't think anybody else is welding up the wear on the shift fork detent area.

Scott

Here is a photo of a transmission on the bench being reassembled. If you can zoom in on the shift fork detent areas you can see they are redone. This is now standard protocol on a rebuild from me.

Photo of a transmission being created for shipping, bolted to the crate base, machined flywheel wrapped in cardboard to the left, rear main seal taped to the transmission, information tags attached top of crate to the left side of photo getting ready to screw the top on the crate.

I think your ISB is shot. let go for too much longer, and you will be popping out of gear.

Idk I did an input shaft bearing on my red insight, and with the clutch out that thing was way louder than the silver one. I can hear the isb on this car at idle faintly but I don't think that's the culprit
