Default WTS: 2010 Insight EX Polished Metal (Oregon)

Hi folks, long time lurker first time poster. I've had my Gen 2 Insight for about a year now and while I've loved every minute of the gas mileage the time has come for us to part ways.

I've thrown it up on my local Craigslist here:

2010 Honda Insight Hybrid EX

Edmunds tells me my asking price is supposedly fair, but I'm not too experienced with this sort of thing so if you disagree feel free to let me know.

It's been a great year and I'd love it if it went to someone who I knew could really appreciate it. Thanks for all of the help that I've lurked out of you

I dont know the person selling this car or the person quoted, but I honestly dont think you can get a new EX with the fog lights, auto mirror, side molding etc. for cheaper than $19250 new. $19250 , might get you a new LX.
I think you are probably in the ballpark. $19250 will get you a new LX. The closer we get to $3 to $4 gas, the supply at the dealer will get smaller and your price might seem down right cheap. Good luck.
Cheers.

Thanks for the feedback folks, I appreciate it.

I can't say I'm not surprised, reality is a harsh mistress. While I do agree that it would be hard to find a new EX at this price I doubt that most people care/know too much about trim levels and if they see "New 2010 Insight" for less than my clearly used one then I'm probably overpricing it.

What do you think would be a more reasonable selling price? Since I haven't received any replies to the CL post apart from an automated bot I'm thinking I need to change something.

There seems to be a trend with private car sales recently, I know I have sold about 5 cars in the last 3 years. With the incentives that the new car dealers are offering on new cars including the awesome lease rates on all new Hondas selling a used Honda will be difficult. You almost have to price the car at wholesale to get any bites and then they show and want to scrutinize the car even at wholesale price. One technique they attempted to use on me over and over is to bargain the price down over the phone before seeing the car and then when they arrive start at that the already discounted price and start negotiating down from there, its frustrating and irritating. I will not negotiate a price on the phone with someone who has not seen the car.

Unless you are desparate you might want to think about waiting at least until the lease offers expire at the Honda dealer. They have a zero down 240 a month lease right now on the Insight that no payment on your car could beat.
If you wait until the lease deals expire, which should corespond with low dealer stock I would think your price should be a good deal with all the accessories. My dealership is out of Insights and sells them as they come off the train! Invite people to shop window stickers and then make reasonable offers on yours.

Hopefully kosher bump, since the buyer I had backed out this car is still for sale. I've adjusted the price downwards a bit in hopes of generating some interest.

Thanks for looking!
