Default Lift Cylinders for Trunk

Hi there, Does anyone have a line on lift cylinders or trunk struts for holding up the trunk. Mine suddenly stopped working and the trunk is pretty heavy to hold up without them. Thanks. Bill

Default 2000-2007 Insight Gas Charged Lift Supports

Greetings: After researching and testing supports for the rear hatch, or as some call it the liftgate, tailgate or trunk we have gone into production of the lift supports. These are high quality, made in the USA supports that are a direct fit that requires NO modifications to the vehicle. Below is a link to our site for your review, if you have any questions please feel free to send them to us.

I'll be ordering a set and will post the results.

The stock struts failed on me about a week back when we hit a -10f cold snap and slowly lost oil over a few days. I didn't think they would both fail at the same time or so quickly. Its a little cheaper than the price from Honda and I figure since the Honda struts seem to fail often enough to where I'd rather try something else, I'll bite. I can't wait to put these on.

lou 4351,

Thanks, mine gave out as soon as the cold weather hit so I need to order some. It is a real pain holding up the hatch while I put my stuff in there each day.

It's a whole Ulysses S Grant cheaper if you compare it to getting a pair from Majestic! I wish I'd found Lou when I replaced my Pathfinder's stuts as he has them for $16.

You may only have one that actually failed but the other is not strong enough to handle the additional load making it seem like it failed as well.

I had this happen to me awhile back but I purchased two from Majestic anyway (back when they would still ship them).

When it is very cold outside, I slowly open the hatch pausing a bit then opening more, pause then open till fully extended. This seems to be less stressful in the extreme cold weather. I also do this to the hood of my Lexus ES300. I don't know if this will really help to prevent failure but I have been doing that method over the last five years or so. I open it normally in the warmer weather though.

It seemed like that was the case the first day it happened because I raised it and it didn't support itself except at the full height it barely could hold itself up. Then the next day I opened it and it was completely limp and heavier than I thought the hatch would have been, but it makes sense, large chunk of metal and glass. They both failed, I know this because they both released out a bunch of oil.
