Thanks,

Possibly, what's wrong with yours? Details please. It might be fixable.
Have you asked for a price from Honda? How much?

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the reply. I haven't checked the Honda cost yet, mine's 'leaked' by the charge/assist dial and there is also a bit on the speedo itself. It still works okay and won't fail an MOT/inspection but I would like it to look better.

Do you know of anyone who can refurbish them and circa how much this costs?

Thanks,

o

I think you will find the Honda cost horrifying and over £1000 that leaves two choices.

1) Get a complete second hand UK one, rare as hens teeth, I only know of two available. I have one (not for sale) and Malcolm Meachen in London (also on here) has another. You will loose your ODO mileage and inherit whatever is on replacement.

2) Get a complete second hand one from US much cheaper, and transfer the LCD part of it to your unit. They do come to bits and the LCD part is probably universal. Fix not gauranteed. That's what I would try first. You will retain your present mileage. You need to make sure you get a manual or CVT display of course depending on what yours is. One of our US members may be able to help with finding and shipping one for you.

Hey all,

I've put the Insight project on hold over Christmas but did make some progress on sourcing a speedo.

There is a guy here who can refurbish them and I have been quoted around £200 to get mine sorted. I'm just doing a few more checks before I go ahead to male sure my mileage won't be reset if I get things done to the display - Its a really unique point of my car.

Will keep you updated,

Thanks,

o

Who's that then? link? I don't see how he can refurbish the broken lcd unless he is replacing it with one from a US car. If he just replaces the LCD part then your mileage should be retained ASFAIK.

Default Insight Instrument Cluster

There is (or was) a Red Insight for breaking at a yard in Cheshire somewhere near Crewe, perhaps the part is still on the car.

It may be possible to have the odometer rewritten with the appropriate mileage etc, by connecting it to a PC or Honda diagnostic unit, I knew of this being applied to a Vauxhall car which had a defective panel
