Default Holgren stainless steel dead pedals (footrest) now available!

I just bought a new leftover holgren s.s. dead pedal (footrest plate,) with the word "insight" cut from the center diagonally. (I'll see if I can find a pic on this site to copy and attach.) Considering he is no longer making these up or selling them anymore (not for a long time now I believe,) I figured I'd buy it (even at the $50 price tag,) and see about having more made up. So yesterday, I dropped it off at the machine shop. My machinist has a new $1 million water jet machine. He's cut 3/4" thick s.s. plate for me before on this machine and it is accurate to the 10,000th of an inch. He can copy it exactly, and is going to call me with an estimate. If it's not too expensive, I will have him cut me ten or twenty for the guys who have to have them (or just want to save their carpeting!) I'll post the price once he lets me know! If you have any interest, PM me your name and phone number, and I'll call you probably within the week, and let you know the price and ETA. I'd like to get a rough idea of the amount of interest, so I know how many to tell him to initially cut. (ie: I don't want to sit on a stack of extras!) Thanks guys!
Chris

Hey, that one on the Makita box is mine! Have never installed it because the holes don't quite line up with the holes in my floorboard. I'm also afraid it would just be a mud catcher. I'd really like some kind of raised rubber rest. Need to clean that carpet and get something down there before there is any more wear!

You beat me to the reproduction. I was going to take this one to a place in Topeka but just never got around to it. I'm sure you'll have some interest!

Default Update!

I got the call from my machinist today, and they'll be water-jetted out and ready for me to pickup this Friday, 1/7/11. Pricewise, I can do them even cheaper than they were a few years ago (when they were last available,) at $35, (plus $5 to cover the longer plastic push-in clips for mounting, mailer envelope, and postage.) So $40 total, to your door!

Let me know if you'd like one, as I've had a ton of inquiries thus far, and I'm certain they won't last long!

Thanks again for your time and consideration!

Respectfully,

Christopher Mang

Thanks for the use of the image! The third pic is of mine. I trial fit mine (the template) prior to taking it to the machinist, and it fit just fine! As every gen 1 insight owner knows; that area on the carpet is the highest wear area and the first area to rub through. One of my two insights has already worn right through. I don't want it to happen to my other one, so this is cheap insurance! (plus a nice looking interior highlight, too!)

How thick is the stock you're using? I just had a thought, I wonder what it would take to fill the cutouts with something like a black urethane flush with the surface. I think it would be a cool functional look! Take the black felt backing look to another level. Would need a little red urethane to dot the I!

Got your phone call. I'm in for one, either as shown, or with the changes suggested above.

Hi Chris, I had left you a phone message last week regarding making a purchase. Please let me know how you'd like me to pay for it.

Thanks,
Mark
