Been dreaming about installing one of Mike Dabrowski’s MIMA systems, but stymied by the price of admission? Here’s your chance to join the MIMA ranks at a bargain price.
I have a MIMA system for sale. This is the plug-and-play version of MIMA. No soldering required. The MIMA I’m offering for sale is a system Mike Dabrowski installed in my 2006 Red Insight MT 2 years ago. It was a long drive from Ohio to Connecticut but MIMA has been a great addition to my ride as others have documented extensively elsewhere on this site.
There are two reasons I am selling it.
Reason number one is that I will be selling the Insight within a couple of weeks. A medical condition is impairing my clutch foot so I’ll need to switch to a CVT Insight or used Prius.
Reason number two is a recent dealer repair adventure. I had a stock IMA issue about 1.5 months ago. When I took the car to my local Honda dealer, who has been alternately amused and tolerant of the MIMA addition to my vehicle over the 3 years that I have owned it, they insisted on completely removing the MIMA system to fix the IMA issue. Despite my best arguments, they refused to budge. So I was between a rock and a hard place since I did not have the skill to remove the MIMA system on my own, nor did I have the skill to re-install it once they took it out. So out it came. On the positive side, I’ve put about 1500 miles on the car since this dealer visit and everything IMA-wise is shipshape. But man, I do miss the kick of having a MIMA-equipped Insight. Big step backward. On the negative side, I have a perfectly workable MIMA system sitting in a box not doing me or anyone else any good. Hence the sale.
Realizing it has been in use 2 years, I don’t expect to recoup anywhere near the majority of my investment in it. So I figure to do some good by offering it for sale at the screaming deal price of $175 plus shipping. I’ll keep $100 of that figure, send $60 to Mike D. to compensate him for some phone consultation time with whoever buys the MIMA system and send $15 to the website to help pay for the bandwidth that benefits all of us. Sound like a winner?
PM me or call my cell at 440-339-4349 with questions. I can take pics of all the pieces if anyone’s interested. The components, at my emphatic request, were removed with care so no hacked wiring or connectors. I bought the mechanic a six pack of his favorite imported brew so I feel confident he followed through on this request

He promised not to imbide until AFTER he had finished the job...
