This is a 2006 Red, manual transmission model VIN JHMZE137X6S000154. I’m the 2rd owner. Purchased the car from a dealership in Texas in January of 2008 with 9,500 miles on the odometer. 20% window tint all around. Now has 84K. It has been and continues to be my trusty daily driver so odometer reading will increase slightly. The vehicle has been dealer serviced since I acquired it. MPG has been outstanding as anyone familiar with Gen1 Insights knows. My summer driving nets me 82-84 mpg and winter driving 63-65 mpg. Reason for sale is a medical condition is forcing me to downgrade to an auto trans, so I’m looking for a CVT Insight or Prius.
I can furnish comprehensive maintenance records since purchase. I’m the kind of guy who waxes INSIDE the door jambs, so you can be assured the car has been kept in top condition. Had complete brake job last year including drain and flush and new fluid. Two new front Potenza’s in September. New Braille 12V battery (only 6 lbs.) in October. Regular oil/filter changes with Amsoil filters and Amsoil 0W-20 full synthetic. Had a full boogie detailing done at my Honda dealership two weeks ago in preparation for sale.
As to the weight reduction part of the story, I’ve pulled out 75 lbs. worth of flab. This included removing factory audio unit and speakers. Sold off the radio/cd unit to another member on the site some time ago, but I do have the stock speakers and they are included with sale of vehicle. On the positive side, installing an aftermarket unit will be a cinch as the brackets are there and ready to go. Items removed from car have been bubble-wrapped and kept on the shelf in my garage. They are, of course, included with sale of vehicle.
Body is 9 out of 10. Some paint chips on the hood, but nothing aggregious. So small, I'd be hard pressed to get them to show up in a digital photo. Got a brand new rear bumper facing in March 2010 courtesy of a woman busy on her cell phone when I was slowing down for an ambulance. Got a dent in the plastic but had dealer install brand new component to bring things up to snuff. Frame and alignment were triple checked at that time by my local Honda dealer just in case.
Price is $11,000. Whoever acquires this Insight will have no surprises and no disappointments. Happy to email a full set of pics to prospective buyers. Anyone with a line on a CVT Gen1 Insight that's not 500 miles from Ohio, drop me a PM. Thanks for reading. Apologies in advance for poor resolution on pictures. Had to downsize them to respect file size limits on site. Will email full resolution versions to interested parties.

Very nice looking car Ray! And I love the weight reductions! After looking at your list, I'm surprised you didn't go on a diet, and use the bathroom before every run, too! Good luck on your sale; whoever ends up with it, will have a very beautiful super-sipper!

LOL, Chris. Thanks. Yeah, I did trim a few pounds from my own "chassis" in the interest of physics!

Price reduced to $10,400. Need the garage space. Replacement is on the way. Have installed all components previously removed with exception of the stock radio/cd unit. PM me or call cell: 440-339-4349. Excellent example of a well-kept 2006 manual trans model. Located near Cleveland, Ohio.

It's a real shame you have to sell it. They should make some sort of power-assisted clutch master cylinder so that people like you can keep driving stick. Yours is about as close to new as can be bought, and I hope it ends up in the hands of someone who would take great care of it.
Thanks for posting the table of weights. I see that Honda did a pretty good job of keeping these components light, and not including anything unnecessary except power steering. Btw, did you end up with a Prius? I bet it will be EASY to remove 100lbs from one of those.

Thanks for your post. Haven't got the Prius yet. Need some $$ out of the Insight to pull the trigger on a used Prius. Planning on getting one from Steve Woodruff at AutoBeYours. Sad to be needing to be move out of the Insight. Thought about a CVT Insight but after my MT, it would be a painful experience to be "almost" where I was MPG-wise.

One of these would reduce pedal effort by a factor of two, and other ratios may be available.
There is also the electro-hydraulic option, which would be much more complicated, but it would be as light as a throttle pedal. Just ask JoeCVT.
You can't be the first person to come across the issue. If my doctor told me to give up my Insight, I'd call a few hot rod shops and Professional Engineers for a second opinion.
