I'm new to the Forum, and have been encouraged by several members to get this car posted correctly. I found the car in 2008 with only 11,000 miles on it and have replaced the IMA battery pack, installed new brakes and rotors, new floormats and found an original cargo net too. We own 2 other Insights, an 01 and an 00, so we don't need three. One has to go and this is the best choice for us right now. I have to say it is the the tightest handling of the three and for all intents and purposes feels like a new car. I'm afraid I don't have any photos yet to post but the car has no dents, dings or curb scratches on the wheels. It's silver, with an amazingly clean interior and rear cargo area and has the standard radio tape unit. Everything works and we are asking $19,500. I've been told there have been some cars with 25K+ miles that have sold for over $23K on eBay so I think our asking price is fair and reasonable for such a low mileage little car! I hope someone here at Insight Central is able to pick this up from us. It has gotten over 70MPG on the highway and 58 to 60 mpg around town. Thanks
Note: Please private message me if interested so that I can get back to your questions as soon as possible...thanks

Wow. Good luck. Please don't take offense but I find this interesting, you are asking for an 11 year old car more than the cost of a brand new 2nd Gen Insight.
Just looking at Ebay I see a 2006 with 36k miles "buy it now" for $12,750. And that car will have the IMA battery under warranty until 2016 and all the other emissions related components until 2014.
Thanks, I'll check out ebay. The IMA pack that I replaced should be covered for another 8 years, or so I was told by the dealer. But thanks for the feedback. Believe it or not I've got that much in the car, perhaps I made a big mistake, but things were crazy in 08. As for the new Insights, they don't seem to get anywhere near the mileage the old ones get and our local dealer here has confirmed Honda's offering some deep discounts.
If you need $19k out of your car, hold on to it, drive it regularly to keep it happy, and wait for inflation to catch up to the price your asking. There are way too many Gen1 Insights for sale right now for much less.
60k on a Honda is just the break-in cycle...
- 186k on '01 V6 Accord - current
- 255k on '86 CRX SI - friend flipped
- 352k on '82 Civic SI - past

Before you represent that warranty to a prospective buyer, you might consider verifying it with American Honda. Honda has replaced my 2000 Insight battery twice under warranty, the last time in spring, 2008. I was told at that time that the warranty on this battery would be honored only until the car was 10 years old or had been driven 150,000 miles (possibly now 157,500 miles due to a lawsuit). It is probably true that there is some sort of warranty on an IMA battery that an owner purchases (90 days, 1 year?). But I have never heard anyone claim that a replacement battery, regardless of whether Honda or the owner paid for it, is guaranteed for 8 years.
there are some on autotrader.com with around 35k miles in the $13k range, but those are CVT's which are usually not driven as much as MT anyway, but those are also 2005-2006 models, so they actually have a bunch of time on the battery warranty left.
I'd say $15k might be more reasonable for your car. 19k, maybe if it was a citrus color one, since those are hard to find in first place, but to find one with very low miles is almost impossible. (unless the museums decide to sell them)

Thanks for the "insight" on the IMA warranty. I will check with the dealer on the specifics of what exactly is covered and for how long the warranty is in effect.
IMO opinion, you should keep the car. You won't get your asking price for it and the car is such a low mileage high mpg car that it's not worth selling for anything less than what you are asking (make sense?)... or do what the previous poster suggested.... wait for inflation to catch up. But if your situation should change with the car...and you decide on lowering the price.... send me a PM and we can work it out a price
