While towing my 10 year old grey Insight, something happened and the motor blew with subsequent loss of oil and coolant so that the motor and sensors are cooked. The battery pack was replaced last year and fun ctioned perfectly well. There are plenty of parts that can be useful and that I would like to sell. Any takers
You blew the engine while towing it? Did you forget to take it out of gear and tow it in gear? I'm just wondering what sort of transmission damage might be there from towing it with the engine spinning fast enough to the point where something like this happened. Maybe I'm not understanding the cause/effect here but depending on your location and other factors such as price, mileage on the body, condition of the rest of the car, etc., I might be interested. Since I'd need to tow it to where I live, location is especially important to calculate the cost to get it home.
Towing it in gear shouldn't damage the transmission since it's splash lubricated anyway, but if it was in gear the engine was turning over while being towed, that means no lube. Threw a rod? What a bizarre method of failure that would be.

I live near Montreal, Quebec. The car was probably left in gear to cause all the damage. The body is in reasonable condition and the set of batteries is a year old. Mileage is around 175,000.
