Default What do you think it would take to replace the battery?

Hi,
I'm an Insight newbie. This is my second time to try to find one. I'm bidding on one that says in the description: "No lights on but if battery was not changed it needs to be changed soon or professionally bench recharged." If that sends up any red flags, please let me know. If it's just a matter of replacing the IMA battery, what kind of expense am I looking at, so that I can figure that into my bidding price? Thanks a lot!

They are talking about the 12V battery, but the IMA will probably have problems too. Our IMA battery repairs max out at $1250.

So I would send you the IMA and have it reconditioned?

The seller was somewhat unclear, because the ad also said that "Newer front battery Oil changed, brakes good ,ac heater good. Has all lower shields. Honda records show that battery computers were changed. Do not know about battery." He told me that he meant that the 12v was fairly new but that the IMA would need attention. Thanks

We have found that any car that sits for 90 days or more will develop a problem with the IMA battery about 8 months later. If the 12V is dead, it has probably been sitting a long time.

Yes, you'd send us the IMA battery to recondition.
