I am looking for a 1st gen Insight for my girl. The car must be in good running condition and has auto transmission since she can't drive a stick. I am in Minnesota. If you or anyone that you know is interested in selling their 1st gen Insight, please contact me through email viet_metal_rock@yahoo.com
I suggest your expand your search from sea to shining sea.
As you've already found out, these are rare cars. You could literally wait years to find a suitable one in your state.
It is not uncommon to fly to a car, or drive with a partner, and drive it home. Or have it shipped.

As Eli says, it's not uncommon to fly to a car. I just did a couple of months back. Drove it home the same day from Seattle to Sacramento - Worth it to me.
And still haven't found any reasonable deal yet. I wish the 2nd gen is just as good as 1st gen in gas mileage perspective then I wouldn't have to look for a 1st gen so hard like this.

I've never seen so many Insights for under $3K. something seems fishy. Let us know how this turns out.
