Default Parting out 2000 Insight in Ontario

I have a silver 2000 that came from Quebec with a blown engine motor and trans. It was the one that got left in gear behind a motorhome and those parts were truly destroyed. There are 215,000 kilometers on the chassis.

I have some engine parts such as the EGR valve, catalytic and O2 sensors, injectors and coils.

Radio is gone but I have a Honda 6 CD changer
Wheels are pretty scruffy
Crappy tires
Motorhome tow bar
Full tank of gas

Need anything?

I think I'll keep the gas as a Strategic Reserve.

I hate to lose another one to the crusher. Are you sure it is not cost effective just to put an engine/trans in it? I would think running gear would be pretty cheap and easy repair.

In reply to Kennysmith,

I agree and I anguished over it for a couple of weeks. Unfortunately this car would only make "fair", even after a lot of work. The wheels are scruffy, the headlight lenses muddy and discoloured, the door hinges sagged and rust on all the steel, in particular the brake and fuel lines. They must use a lot of salt in Quebec (maybe that's why the bridges to Montreal Island are always under repair). Even the tires are poor - they are the cheapest and the wrong size - Canadian Tire (aka Crappy tire) Motomaster. Ugh!

There's more bad stuff too. The front end has been hacked (literally) to mount a towbar system, the bumpers and spats are poor... well, you get the idea.

Actually, it may not go to the crusher. I have the chassis listed in an Acura racing group. The fellow that put it up for me used to be an Insight Central contributor with the unpronouncable Spanish name Guillermo Aristizabal (Gee for short) He's the guy on you tube racing his Insight at Shannonville here in Ontario.

Will be getting back to everyone in the next day or two.

Default Need hood in Ohio... Down I-75 a bit

My 2000 Insight had a problem with a deer and I am looking for a silver hood and drivers side headlight (That can be polished or cleaned up). If you can ship it to me for reasonable cost please let me know. Or if you are around Windsor can I pick it up there??.

Will need vin of donor car and reciept as my car is totalled and Ohio MVD requires this or they will impound your car..
