I wish Forza 3 had the Insight.
I've got the Xbox 360 and I feel silly wanting to buy a game system specifically for one game, and specifically for one car. But, I find it interesting that you can drive an Insight in any racing simulator game. It's not really a car you can tune, modify, and race!
I hope Forza 4 brings me my Insight, otherwise I might as well buy a PS3, or 4.
I didn't buy a PS3 for the Insight in GT5, but I did buy the PS3 for GT5. I've got a projector and homemade racing cockpit w/ 6-speed shifter/clutch, my white Insight is pretty badass around Monaco!

Can you post a vid of that? I wonder how GT5 compares with F-3 and upcoming F-4.
Took a close look at the "yellow" insight today. Apparently the more reputable dealer (new car) down the street had it first but had second thoughts about keeping it. Said " it was a little to rough for our lot" and wholesaled it off. It then ended up just a few blocks down the street.
The paint job was actually pretty good and could not find out why it was repainted other than the fact that someone really liked yellow. Lots of scratches and little dings. Not a bad car overall....just overpriced
By the way, the new car dealer down the street has just acquired a 2001 Red Insight CVT with 59k miles. It was a little better cosmetically but apparently "good enough for our lot"

Thanks for the personal inspection, sorty. By "rough," did the reputable dealer mean cosmetically? Did you get to check out the engine while running? Yeah, $11+ grand is a tad much, especially for that sorta mileage. Did they justify the price with the yelloe paint?
The salesman only referred generally but said to check under the hood. It looked spotless to me. I did not get as far as starting it because the interior seemed to be not real cared for. The yellow paint was at least a year old according to some paperwork on tires bought in early 2010. It makes me real suspicious when you have a car painted for no reason. I don't buy "had to have yellow" story .
Sorry for the video quality, it was shot using my iphone 3GS @ my projector. The Insight model is the "Standard" not Premium (low polygon/detail, it's a model from GT4). That's why the Ferrari F40 in video #2 looks so much cooler
The frame rate sucks in the video but it was actually perfect in real life (1080p). I'll try Arcade mode on Monaco some time this weekend and whip some supercar ass in my modified Insight.
When I put it in cockpit view, you can see the hybrid display at the left, the battery does charge/assist, but it's got too much capacity to be realistic.
Side note: As crazy as this might sound, I've had my Insight all over the ass of some 997 Porsche GT3s driven by friends / automotive press drivers on twisty coastal backroads in northern CA... my tires were super grippy and I'd push the car very hard, but they were always shocked they couldn't ditch me in the corners mile after mile for hours of driving. Of course when uphills or straightaways came in I was a sitting duck. But for downhill racing and tight corners it's all about the ultra light weight and keeping momentum. They'd drop to 40 MPH for some turns, I rarely went below 60.
That is pretty cool, thanks for sharing the videos with us! I'm getting more and more tempted to get a PS3 and GT-5. The graphics in GT-5 seem to look even more realistic than Forza 3.
As I am unfamiliar with GT-5, can you tell me what kind of modifications you can do to the car? Can you change the color and add graphics? Can you change wheels?
In particularly, what can you do to the Insight? It seems strange that the Insight is keeping up with those Ferraris! LOL!
Unless the Insight has a twin-turbo-charged K20 engine stuffed in it, the real thing wouldn't have a snowballs chance of keeping up with those cars!
Love the white one! Is that the only rear wing option for that car?

LOL, I didn't even know the car was in the game, so when I saw it in the Used car dealer I freaked out and bought it immediately.
For mods you can change the color, but cannot add graphics ()
You cannot change the wheels on this car in GT5 because it's a Standard Car (the Premium Cars are the high-polygon cars)... in GT4 maybe you can change the wheels on it, but GT5 it's an imported car/low detail level so you don't have any options really for that.
The car only has 164 HP at most: you can only do N/A engine mods. you can take a little weight off, do full suspension/LSD, race tires and all the config/setup. The reason I can keep up with those cars is because the AI was on Medium difficulty (on High they leave me pretty good) and the power/weight is pretty good since the Insight's so light, plus my car has better suspension/tires, notice they pull away like crazy on the straightaways. There's 3 wing options for downforce, they all look like big ricer wings though.
I wouldn't buy GT5 JUST for the Insight (that's madness) but it's still a great game. I wish I had Forza 3+ still, I loved Forza 1 and 2.
