Default UK 200 Insight for sale

I've decided that I can no longer keep my beloved Insight. I've joined a car pool and can't take my turn driving in it (there's 5 members) so it has to go. If I could afford to keep it I would without question.

It's a 2000 blue UK Insight. It's done 144k miles and you'd never know it. There's a couple of scratches but the interior is nice and the engine is sweet. I've never had any battery issues and I managed 98.5 mpg for a full tank last summer (691 miles). I bought this car from a honda guru who said it was the best Insight he'd ever driven (he's owned a lot) and he hand picked the battery pack for me from his stock.

I've put two new tyres on it recently and it's recently been serviced by Honda. I'm due another service and I'll try to get this done before I sell the car. It doesn't have a full service history but to be honest that doesn't bother me because I trust the previous owner - Pez (who did all his own servicing) above Honda technicians. I put new tax and MOt on it at the end of May and it sailed it's MOT.

I'll get some pictures up soon but feel free to get in touch with me in the meantime if you're interested.

All the best.

**EDIT**
I forgot, I got the air con recharged lastmonth too and it's superb now!

Default Honda Insight for sale

Hi, I saw your posting re selling your Insight. I'm looking for one and would be interested in more info. I presume its a UK manual car? What condition are the batteries in? I'm a bit concerned that some of the cells will be failing at that mileage. I'd appreciate more info and photos when you can.

Hi there, thanks for your reply. Yes, it's a Uk manual car. The gearbox works superbly with no crunches or anything that I've noticed at all that you would call untoward.

As I mentioned above, the batteries have been perfect and have never caused me a single issue in all the time I've had the car. They charge right to the top and I try to completely discharge them once a week (when I'm driving it every day). This is the way to get the best performance from the battery I believe. Pez who owned the car before me had several battery packs and had them apart in his motorsport workshop and was checking the cells individually for charge/discharge rates. He had a charger and was checking them for their charge hold and discharge characteristics. he said he hand picked me the best pack he had and I've had no reason whatsoever to disbelieve him. I believe that he had acess to brand new batteries from Honda.

I read about people having a recal or something but I've no idea what that is as I haven't had the need to find out. The car pulls superbly and the IMA feeds in when it's required and sits quietly recharging when it needs.

The two new tyres are Michelin Energy.

Honestly, if I didn't need to take more than one passenger, or if I could afford it, I'd keep this car. I love it. I'll get some pictures up tomorrow if I get home in time but her'es what I have on my hard drive:-

Hello again, the car is certainly of interest. It sounds like Pez, the previous owner, changed the cells for new ones before your ownership, is that right? Three questions: How would you describe the condition of the body on a scale 1-10 (one being the worst?), how much are you thinking of asking for the car and where are you in the UK??

Hi, I know for a fact that he certainly had the pack out and checked everything over. Whether or not he replaced some or all of the cells, I couldn't say. If there's any checks you'd like me to do, let me know. As for the car body wise, I'd rather not rate the car myself as what I consider to be an 8 might not match your thoughts of what an 8 should be. I have friends who measure the thickness of their paint!!!

What I AM willing to do is take a load of pictures of the car and post them up for your perusal. You can make your own mind up. I'll make sure I catch all the bad bits in detail. Let me know any bits in particular you'd like to see.

I hadn't got round to thinking about a selling price and since there hasn't been one on the market in the UK that I've seen for a while, I'm a bit stumped to be honest. Make me an offer if you like the car.

I'm in Scotland but would be more than willing to discuss me delivering the car under the right conditions.

Hope this helps.

Morning, Ok, thanks for this. I look forward to seeing all the photos, then I'll have a better idea. I've seen cars priced anywhere between £1,200-£6,000, the former a high mileage car, the latter a much lower mileage. I'm holidaying in Scotland in a couple of weeks so that might help us, I live in Devon!

Default Who is Pez?

Pez, the Insight guru, is he known to the forum?

If he has a motorsport workshop and can fix Insights, he could be of great benefit to owners.

Do you have his contact details, e-mail, website, etc?

Pez is on here but not under that username. Do a search for his name. He keeps himself to himself and is in the process I believe of trying to wrap things up to drop off the planet, out of the rat race. I've met some extremely intelligent people in my life and Pez is right up there with the best of them. Troyuble is, I can't speak to him on the phone without my battery dying by the end of the call cos he's just such an interesting guy.

Anyway, I'll stick some pictures up tonight when I get home and wash the car.

Please bear in mind that I've taken the shots with the light to show off the bad points to their worst. If there's any areas you'd like me to take some more shots of or any that I've missed, let me know.

I'm restricted to 4 shots so I'll add the rest to new posts.
