some time ago, I think I was like Eli, checking the forums alot, replying with helpful info for all the newbies with new threads, and even pulling searches for them and providing links. But recently I have become less active here because I see so many repeat threads, and new people asking the same things over and over. I understand it takes a little effort to search, but since pressing the "new thread" button is so easy, everyone just does it anyway.

There should be a warning before people click to make a new thread, saying something like:

Did you read the rules of the forum?
Are you sure you are posting in the right section?
Did you use the search function to find your answer? No? Then Dont make this thread, search first.
Warning! If your question is one that has been answered somewhere and you are too lazy to search, then you will be bashed by older insightcentral members. Some might try to help though...

I'll just leave this right here... Hopefully lighten the mood a bit.

I know what you mean, 02insight. I, too, feel myself straying from the forums a little and being a little less enthusiastic about helping newbies with truly basic questions. I try though because I know you have to start somewhere. Here, for everyone's amusement, my first thread:

Bought a 2001 Insight. Courier driver; 1600mi/wk. Help!

I sound like such a n00b!

Anyway.. yeah, it's hard. I've been on another large forum for over 12 years with 50,000 posts. I've come and gone over the years. Indeed, I didn't start regularly posting here until a short time ago. I was the typical InsightCentral member with a few posts, always only asking for help, not contributing anything.

When we decided that we were going to buy a 2nd Insight, I started reading more. I decided that I probably could and should add something to the forum, so I started posting more. It's been downhill ever since. It's so rare to see or talk to another person with an Insight though, I enjoy talking with another Insight owner even if they're new to the car.

But I truly do think these are amazing cars. We're such a small community that it's important to support eachother, especially new people. It's so very easy to become frustrated and discontent with an Insight unless you have things explained to you. They are very quirky cars, and they do things that confuse people, even people that are quite familiar with regular cars. I'm inquisitive by nature, and consider the Insight the perfect car for me. It's extremely engaging. But a lot of people are only interested in A-B transportation, not in how the car works. It took me a long time to understand the Insight on the level I do now, and I don't really even know the half of it. Nobody really does. We're very slowly cracking the code of the Insight's systems, and it's becoming quite apparent that nearly every system in the car is incredibly dynamic, much more than we ever thought.

Well, now I'm blabbering.. but yeah, we need to stick together. The original poster has a legitimate reason for selling their car, and we can't fault them for that. We may have a legitimate reason to be upset if they came in here saying that the car sucks, but it's actually quite the opposite. They acknowledge that this is an amazing car, and regret selling it. They are a friend.

Posting in the wrong section can be overlooked here, overall. The forums are slow enough that it doesn't matter. Any thread is a good thread, IMO.

That is all. lol.

I am keeping my eye out for a low mileage MT G1 insight, and only stumbled on this post by accident. I look daily at the for sale section, but not everywhere else. Even when searching for something sometimes in our minds we know exactly what we are looking for, but being a newbee we call it the wrong thing, and can't find it even though it is basic. I sometimes have trouble locating my old posts that I started based upon looking for the wrong keywords.

I appreciate all of the info this sight has to offer, and will be looking for a lot of additional info once I find an insight.

Dave

Put your location in your profile and you might find one next door.

Default Thanks ELI

thanks for your post and your kind words. I didi not intend to make such a racket on this simple matter of trying to sell my wonderful Insight. Some on this forum seem to be very resistent to new folks and have some very harsh words to spread. Yes, it will be enough to drive me off of this and go elsewhere
