My 2001 5spd MT Insight has died. The IMA battery is no longer accepting charge and the charge controller is not charging the IMA battery or the 12v accessory / starter battery.
The car runs so long as the accessory battery gets recharged. have not tested how long it can last; after the IMA light turned on and the dealership diagnosed bad battery and controller, i drove it for 9 days before it shut down completely and would not restart.
I am now looking into a new car. the dealership is offering a very, very low amount on trade in.
the insight is in good mechanical shape other than the battery and controller.
hatch button release is no longer functional; requires key turn to unlock/open hatch.
auto drivers window down does not function; just standard up/down.
suspension is getting worn; still acceptable.
clutch is a bit loose; will need replacement in the next year.
I know this car is in rough shape but is worth more than minimal trade-in value.
Is there anyone in the Phoenix, AZ, USA area willing to purchase and save this car?

Bought/Sold/Dismantled six Insights so far, and every single one has been silver . I want a Citrus to keep for myself
It has red paint. starting to delaminate (top clear coat peeling off) and has one nick/chip on left side of hood.
It has 155000 miles on it (haven't had access to odometer while in shop; approximation).
if someone has access to inexpensive battery and charge controller installation options, i like to think it would be worth $3000. i know this is a dream so i am open to offers.
interior is showing significant wear (but not terrible).
Wow... I'm down the road in Tucson. What do you mean by the charge controller? The DC/DC, MDM, or BCM?
Do you have any pics? I might do it....

i know that the mini / accessory battery is not getting a charge so the DC/DC is definitely not functioning. i also know that the IMA is not giving or receiving charge/power so i don't know which of the other options are bad.
I have to say assume the worst.
Sadly no pictures; it is sitting at the dealership in gilbert. soon to be traded in (possibly monday morning). if you have any real interest let me know ASAP.

Sounds like the dealer offered you 1-1500 for the vehicle. It also appears that you don't want to fix it or you would have read numerous posts here at ICN about all of your symptoms. Tell the dealer that you will sell it on your own.
