Hi folks! I just traded in my dear 1st gen Insight at a dealer in northern OR, and wanted to post about it here in case anyone was looking for one in the area.
I was the second owner on the car, and it's been nothing but fabulous. It's got just over 104k (already had its 105k service done), and the only real repair ever needed was replacing the faulty CVT start clutch under an existing service bulliten. The tires are good Toyos, and are getting towards the end of their life, but should have a few miles in them yet. It's got a clean Carfax, everything from the A/C to the defrosters works perfectly. Engine and transmission are in tip-top shape, and everything else is completely trouble-free!
Oh, and it's also got a decent after-market MP3 CD/AUX stereo (and extra rear speakers).
I'm not affiliated with the dealer in any way outside of having purchased a car from them - I just really want to see my dear old car go to another Insight fan. Let me know if you check it out!
(Not sure if it'd be OK to post a link to the dealer's listing, so I'll hold off on that for now, but let me know. =) )

Mind telling us what you traded the Insight for? And why?
It was a tough choice to trade it in, and not without a few pangs of guilt, lemme tell you - that car's been wonderful to me, and I'll miss the extra MPG! =)
I traded for a gorgeous black CR-Z. My work's suddenly started requiring some travel time, and I've been driving back and forth from Seattle to Portland lately, and will likely continue to do so at least every other week for the next 6 months or more. Since I'll be racking up the miles on freeways, something with a little smoother ride, a bit more power, and cruise control suddenly started to sound good. I still absolutely wanted a small car and (until I can afford a Tesla) couldn't bear to drive a non-hybrid, so the CR-Z fit the bill.
It would definitely have been more financially practical to stick with the dear ole' Insight, but everyone's allowed to invest in at least one impractical car in their lifetime, right?
They're asking too much for this car. I bought my 2002 Honda Insight CVT for $8500.00 two years ago and it had about 78000 miles on it when I bought it.

Congrats on the new CR-Z - we're all waiting for your first tank mileage so keep us filled in. Are you driving economically or sportingly?
That internet retail price is very high. I always figure there's 10-15% wiggle room if you're going in on a straight deal without trade but that price is really jacked up. They're hoping someone will come in without doing their homework and drop $9,000 on a $6,000 vehicle.
I bought my 2002 CVT in October of 2009 for $8,300. The mileage was low, about 46,000, but it's red and we all know that drags the price down. The other factor keeping the price down was gasoline at $2.69 a gallon at the time. Car was at a Lexus dealership and they didn't want to get stuck with it for the Winter.
