EDIT 05/21/2013 These boards are available to any group meet of Insighters. I have 5 pairs of boards at this time that I can make available for your meeting date.
I will send them to one of the group that is confirmed to attend, and they can send back the old switches after the meet. I will also throw in the loose switches so if that is not enough boards someone might can solder them as needed.
EDIT 04/14/2013 This is what the latest shipping container will look like. Several of these have made it out and back without any damage to the switches. the bubble wrap method was just not making it past the PO machines. These changes replace anything below. If you just got here read on down.
EDIT 03/08/2013 Here's a pic of some damage that was received on my end. The three pole socket on the board was totally smashed flat.
The pins were flatten down against the board. I bent them up to take this pic. SO, we are going to have to find a container as I mentioned below. The other damage from the post on 3/03, was received on the members end. One of the switches was in pieces. This was on yet another board. He had to put one of his old switch boards on the left side, and install the rebuilt board on the right side where it is used more often. This is a pain, because now he has one board that is still sub-par and if he ever wants to replace it, the dash has to come apart again. I will be sending these out in some kind of hard container that will hopefully stand up to the eagles deadly claws. Whatever container they come to you in, please use it to send the old boards back.
EDIT 03/03/2013 We have had some damaged switches due to handling, by the USPO I would say.
One person got a switch that was in pieces, and I received a set back that was "embosed" in the bubble wrap and envelope.
Looked like it had been through some rollers perhaps. So, I am going to find some sort of small, thin, container that is sturdy enough to survive the Postal Service handling, and yet light enough to be mailed cheaply. These containers will need to be used to return your old switch boards. I post some pics here when I find the containers. I have something in mind, and have already ask for some to be saved for me where I work.
EDIT 11/29/2012 Canada has been no problem to send these switches to. It cost me right at 1.00USD more to ship to Canada. And of course some extra cost for those returning the boards from Canada.
EDIT 3/29/2012:
I have acquired another set (2) of the switch boards in a spare gauge cluster that I got from another member (thanks Jeff). This will help speed up things a bit perhaps.
Secondly, I did not mean to exclude anyone in this effort, that being those that may have the tools and ability to do this themselves; if participating here works for you, by all means jump in.
While I'm here let me say this about the funds, since I have been asked; as long as you are returning the old switch boards post paid, we are good, as that is the deal. I will cover the switches. If you feel like dropping something in the return, hold it to a couple bucks. That will cover the 4 switches. I don't want to do any 'lectronic funds thing, so if you're uncertain about sending money enclosed in the return, don't do it. It's seriously not a big deal. Just saying.
Lastly, we can kill this beast; join us

Original begins here:
Just desire to make a contribution not money.
I have 2 of the little circuit boards that hold the reset buttons, in the gauge cluster, that are notorious for failing in the Gen1. I had purchased 2 new boards from Honda, and did the switch upgrade before I installed them. Once I had the old boards on the bench, I replaced the switches in them with the much better switches that have a "snap feedback" feel.
Part # for the Honda circuit boards is 78148-S3Y-A01
Part # for the switches is brand C&K #KSA0M911LFT operating force 300grams.
If it gets to where this particular switch is unavailable, we'll look at other similar options and go from there.
This is the switch that our predecessors have been putting in. Many thanks to those guys. Not taking any credit for figuring out this upgrade, but there is just no logic in someone paying a dealer $$$ to get the buttons working, when the switches are this cheap, and just because they don't have a soldering iron. Of course the vehicle will run fine without the switches working, but it is sweet when everything works better than it did before.
So I have 2 boards with upgraded switches available to those that don't do the soldering iron part.
Here's what I am thinking:
One at a time....Next in line.
You need/want to do the switch fix, but don't do the soldering iron thing.
You will still have to take your dash apart.
There has been some success with the following, so you might definitely try this before you take the dash apart.
And here is another possible fix before you take the dash apart.
Post here in this thread,
and send highwater a PM with name, email and shipping address, for next in line.
We'll communicate thru PM for your shipping address.
I need your email for communication purposes, in case you don't check in here for your PM's
I'll send you the 2 upgraded and tested boards, no charge.
You do the fix, say this weekend, and return the old switch boards that you took out.
I'll redo the set of boards that you return to me postpaid.
We'll scratch you off the list, and go to the next in line.
Gonna take some turn around time for the shipping, so next in line could be 2 weeks out.
This is for both circuit boards (4 switches). If you take the dash apart, might as well change them both out.
These little switches cost pennies and the local post office tells me 2 of them plus the packaging will ship anywhere in the US for less than 2 bucks.
Hate to see someone pay serious bucks to get the switches replaced.
There is no wire cutting involved here Do not cut the 3 wire harness that is attached to the small circuit boards. IT unplugs and comes out with the board. See picture in long write up in first link above, or picture added below.
Here's what will be sent out.
Please return your old switch boards in the bubble wrappers, so that we can use them again.
"image replaced at the top"
If the old switches fail to be returned, "party is over" as they say.
Please log in every day or so and check your PM, while you are on the list.
We will need to communicate.
I will update the list at the end of this thread.
I do not keep a customer database or file, nor sell contact info.
Your return to me label will be shredded.
