Heat? Yes, the heat & defroster system works great.
A/C? The car is set up for A/C but is missing some parts. I live in Seattle and my other Insight has no A/C so I never bothered to get the system working.
Gauges? Mostly, yes. The speedo is off but close enough that you get used to it, the IMA & fuel economy meters aren't functional and the tach is confused by the 4-cyl signal so it's pretty far off.
The solution I'd pursue if I had the time is an AP2 S2000 gauge cluster. You can even buy an off-the-shelf adapter box to drive it: Modifry's S2000 ECT Display Driver LHT do something along these lines with an S2000 gauge pod on their K-Sight.
Thanks for the reply, sounds like an awesome ride!

To be clear, this car is in Redmond, WA now. I bought it from the person who did the swap in Ohio and had it delivered (driven by a professional) to me for $1025 using UShip. I'd highly recommend that service AND the particular driver again, BTW.
Can this car still be used as a practical and realistic daily driver commuter car for all the seasons in the north east?
Yes. That was my goal for the car--an OEM-like, fuel-efficient, fast and fun-to-drive car to drive every day to work. The person who built the car built it, I'd assume, to prove a point that the ultra light and aerodynamic G1 Insight chassis with the right engine would run circles around anything else on the road in this regard (CR-Z anyone?).
