BT, so you know, last year I posted the same articles and never sold them until about a month ago (although why anyone would put the original back into a car when you can get such good aftermarket products now I don't quite know...) for $60. I know your price is way below replacement for OEM, but I don't think there's much of a market... Just thought I'd share my experience with you.

I think it comes down to this problem:

ROFMLAO. Isn't that the truth. Car audio and car computers are an endless rabbit hole of time, money and desire. I finally gave up the battle with amps, wiring, fiber optics, tuning, fuses, and the constant tweaking and went with a mid-range head unit for under $100 from JVC, I think. You can set the colors to match any interior, it has two AUX outputs - one in front and one in back - and a USB port in the front. It also controls an iPod or any other external data source (but sadly, not an external hard drive) and displays folder/file/track information on the screen natively. That and new speakers and I was in business for under $200. It's not a sound stage but my car isn't a Jag or a Bentley, either. Sometimes the "80% solution" is good enough!

Sorry, BT, just realized we hijacked your post.

On the contrary. When I look to buy insights, I prefer it being all stock, including the stereo system. This way I know it's all original (desirable to many,) and (usually) not tampered with. I've bought many insights with aftermarket stereos and not only do the display colors not match with the rest of the dashboard at night, but many are too bright at night, with no adjustment for dimming. Many aren't even wired properly so I have to get into them to straighten them out. I've personally taken out at least 6 aftermarket stereos on G1 insights, and spent the money to return them to the stock configuration before selling them (including the cars I keep.) I have a pile of aftermarket stereos/cd players here! And door speaker replacement? You should see how some of these door panels are hacked up inside and out by previous owners and even "professional" installers, to fit other "replacement" speakers! Give me stock any day!
