*****Orders will now be made every 6 pairs, not 12 for the same price*****
Since putting together a group buy for these shocks and ordering over 50 pairs at once I've continued to have members reach out to me for another group buy, so here's your chance to get in on the action. I'm going to make this an ongoing group buy, every 12 pairs that get paid for/ordered, I will place an order and redistribute once I get them. By joining in on the group buy you end up saving about $40 off the price of the shocks, but the biggest savings come from the price of the shipping - I don't know the exact amount but from reading other members experiences it was about $60 or $70 for shipping alone.
The price will be $225 per pair shipped to your door (add $30 for shipping to Canada $255 total). Stock shocks currently retail for about $460 per pair and you can find them for about $340 per pair at g1parts. These GAZ shocks are adjustable (22 different settings), have the same travel as stock shocks, can be rebuilt, and mount directly into place the same as the OEM options (the only difference being that a plastic spacer/washer should be used between the shock and the body of the car to prevent corrosion from dissimilar metals being in contact with each other).
If you want more than one pair add $215 for each additional pair. If shipping two pairs or more to Canada please contact me for a shipping quote. I'm located in South Florida, if you want to pick them up from me it's $210 per pair.
Once the order is placed it takes about 3 weeks for GAZ to build the shocks, they are then sent overnight to me, I repackage them and ship them to you via USPS priority mail. All told it should take you about 4-5 weeks for you to receive them once I place the order.
When you make payment please include the following information:
-Your real name
-Your Insight Central Username
-Shipping Address
-Phone number (this is so I can contact you quickly if I have an issue entering your address into the USPS website)
Here's what they look like and the pictures don't do it justice
If I had another Insight I would pick up another set! If you guys are on the fence now is the time to pull the trigger. This is a great price for a very good shock with very good adjustability.
jrm - got your payment but you didn't include your address or phone number. I sent you an email to your paypal email address, please respond or send me a PM on the site.
I just sent payment for a pair. I also sent a PM. We need to do the same for the fronts like JoelR did. We can buy used ones from Halo and do a group buy from GAZ.
My first post! Just bought my Insight last week and met a forum member when I was about to test drive. Great guy with a ton of knowledge.
Now I need to settle on a grid charger. My wife is ready to divorce me. I am addicted to this site. So much info, so many posts...
I'd like to get in on the next batch. However, timing is just a LITTLE off, seeing this thread less than 24 hours after I dropped major coin on a woodworking tool (precision router fence positioner) yesterday followed by a 5 minute lecture about how we need to save money from the spousal unit. I should be able to send you funds on the 1st of Nov if that won't be any inconvenience.
Gadget - totally understand your situation. Just keep an eye on the thread and if we start to get close to the 12, pull the trigger if you can. If you miss this one, I'll do another one as soon as this one fills up. We're only 2 weeks away from 11/1, not sure what my expectations are getting to 12 paid pairs but we'd have to do 4+ per week for the next 2 weeks.
Boy, it's Christmas in October! Mid atlantic group is getting a group buy going for some of Peter's PCBs and I've got springs and shocks in the works. Wonder if Freezin got his springs installed? Looks like some time in the garage!
I'd like to join in on the group buy, but I can't tie my cash up in the case that it takes several weeks to get to 12 users. I'll keep watching for it to fill up, and jump in when it gets closer to 10 people.

My payment is in. I had similar concerns, but someone smashed into my truck last week. Some lady rear-ended me at 40mph while I was stopped waiting to turn left and totalled it. I figure this is a good use of the insurance money. I'm just glad I wasn't driving the Insight that night. Now I don't have the option. I wish people would put down their damned phone and pay attention to their surroundings. Your FB feed can wait.
Ok you holdouts.... pay up so we can get this going!
Gadget - sorry to hear you were involved in an accident, I agree with you 10000000% about the phones, I hope all involved are okay. I received your payment sorry I didn't update the thread sooner, I really appreciate all the detail you put into the note.
When we get to 9 paid orders I will place the order for all 12 and float the difference myself, so really we're only 3 paid away from getting our order in. If you're on the fence, there's no time like the present.
In general - if the back of the car tends to bounce over bumps. Or if you have specific concerns/issues about the ride quality/performance offered by the shocks you got on. GAZ buyers probably fall into the latter reason...
My rear shocks are brand new, and still bottom out on freeway overpasses and with anymore weight than myself. I've had the rear jump and scoot to one side even. A friend of mine bought these GAZ, and really likes the adjustability.
Yes, exactly... Mine (like so many) bottom out a little too easily, especially with a passenger and some luggage. It's probably the most annoying thing about taking roadtrips. I really think (and Willie, et al confirm) that the spring upgrade is the ticket to fixing the bottoming out. That's why I ordered a pair from Scott.
Second to that, though, and I think more of a safety issue, is the "scittering" that the back end will do over bumps in turns. I hate taking on/off ramps and feeling the back end stepping out over bumps... ESPECIALLY with a little braking. This is what I'm hoping the GAZ shocks will help reduce.
I'm sure they will work in tandem for both situations. I doubt my factory shocks that are 12 yrs old are doing much to help slow the motion of the wheels up on bumps, so the new shocks will help the springs in the bottoming out dept, etc, etc...
At any rate, I'm REALLY looking forward to a refreshed suspension system!!! Smooooooth!
My car yaws like a 747 on final approach to Kai Tak airport traversing a turn over the slightest pavement irregularity. I've learned to anticipate this and treat bumps and such like a General Lee style jump ramp but it's often impractical straighten the rough section of a turn to avoid a side-slip. The other counter is to slow way down, counter to what most of us are attempting to achieve. I'm hoping this upgrade gets my Insight's rear end under better control, like prescription strength Immodium.
