Due to the confusion expressed by some new users, we are providing the following Q&A sheet about registering and posting on this forum. Please consult this post before emailing us with your questions.
REGISTRATION:
Q: How do I register to become a member of this community?
A: Simply click the "Register" button (at the top of every page, in the blue banner under the photo of the Insight) and follow the instructions.
Make sure you activate your account by following the instructions in the welcome email you will receive after registering.
Q: I am registered but when I try to log in, why am I told my account is inactive?
A: You didn't activate your account. All accounts must be activated by following the instructions in the welcome email. Until this is done, a user cannot post messages or replies. If you did not receive the welcome email,
check your Bulk Mail or Junk Mail folder as your email provider's filters may have directed the activation email there. Also consider adding the forum email address to your address book in order to receive important (and very occasional) account updates. Please Note:
if your email account requires senders to confirm their address before delivering mail, you must add forum[-AT-]insightcentral.net to your "whitelist" (or safelist, or friends list, or something similar). (Replace the "[-AT-]" with "@" in the address.) If you do not add us to your safe list, you may not receive the instructions for activating or updating your account.
Q: I registered but did not receive the instructions for activating my account. What should I do?
A: See the points listed in the answer to the previous question. If you do not see the instructions in your junk mail folder, wait 48 hours for your account to be automatically deleted and try registering again.
AOL users: if the instructions are not received, please try registering with a different, non-AOL address. Unfortunately, some AOL users have had issues registering (while others haven't) and, despite all our efforts, there is nothing we can do on our end to assist these users. The problem only affects AOL subscribers and is on the AOL end.
Q: I followed the activation instructions but my account hasn't been activated. Why not?
A: Please wait the amount of time indicated in the instructions. You will receive an email once your account has been activated. If the specified waiting period is over, you may not have followed the instructions properly.
If all steps in the instructions are not followed, your account will not be activated and will be deleted after 48 hours. We apologize for this inconvenience but this helps us keep spammers at bay. Thanks in advance for understanding. (Note that the vast majority of our members have no issues joining the Community, so if you read our instructions carefully, there should be no problems.)
LOGGING IN, USER NAMES AND PASSWORDS:
Q: Why can't I log in using the name I registered?
A: Check the spelling of your user name, then use the password reminder feature (on the log in page) to make sure you are entering the correct password.
Q: What if I forget my user name or password?
A: If you can't remember your password, go to the log in page and click the "forgotten password" link. If you don't remember your user name, contact the Site Admin and allow 72 hours for a response. So,
be sure to write down your user name and keep it in a safe place to avoid having to do this.
Q: How do I change the rank that appears under my name?
A: As veteran message board users will know, your rank will change automatically when you have contributed further to the forum.
POSTING:
Q: I made a mistake in my post. Can I delete it?
A: While you can't delete your post, we have enabled post editing, which means you can change the content of your post by clicking the "edit" button that appears next to it when you are logged in.
Q: Some people put pictures in their posts. How can I do this?
A: Before we start, we'd like to ask that you please only use images when they are really relevant, as images use bandwidth and generally slow down the site.
If the images are not necessary or do not relate directly to the Insight, please simply post a link to the image rather than using the "img" function described above. Thank you.
If you decide to add an image to your post, please try to keep them small. We don't allow direct uploading of photos to our servers but you can upload your pictures to another web site and then link to them, so that they appear in your post. If you don't have your own web site, use one of the many free photo album web sites available and then use the "Img" button at the top of the posting page on this forum to link to the photos. To do this, you would click the "Img" button, then insert the full address of the page that has your photos (such as
http://www.example.com/public/photos/myphotos123.jpg), and then click the "Img" button again.
Q: Can I post a poll?
A: The poll option has been disabled but but if you feel you have a question that would really benefit from a poll, you may contact the site admin or one of the moderators (by email or Private Message) who will review your poll and post it on your behalf. Remember to provide the poll question and response options.
Q: How do I post to the community by email?
A: For now, this is not an available feature. We have decided not to implement this feature due to the extra load it would put on our servers.

Q: Who are the Moderators and the Site Admin? What do they do and how can I contact them?
A: The Moderators' Team makes sure the discussion stays on topic and that our forum rules are enforced. They are here to help and to keep this a pleasant place to carry on the discussion. The Site Admin oversees the Moderators, sets forum policies, and manages the technical aspects of the forum. Your first point of contact is the
Forum Moderators' Team. If your issue cannot be resolved by the Moderators, you can contact the
Site Admin. Any decisions made by the Site Admin concerning posts or other issues are final.
