isnt regen only with the rear drums? i only purchased them for the front...normally, i put anti-squeal dressing on all my pads before i install them and never had a problem with these before...

Not sure about which brakes work regen.
I have used HPS before, very slight squeal on very light braking. But at $12, certainly worth a shot!
Regen is not based on front or rear brakes.....Regen is part of the IMA system and no part of regen is located near the brake pads. The IMA motor for assist and regen is located between the engine and transmission.
I think the reason why you guys associate regen with the brake system is because more regen occurs when you press your foot on the brake. The IMA controller is getting one of its inputs from the brake pedal (like when your brake lights are lit).

Since we are on the subject of brakes, is there a trick to adjusting the handbrake? Simply go to the rear wheels and turn the adjuster wheel to tighten things up?

the handbrake adjuster is in the cabin. you need to take off the panel that is on the handbrake itself. then you will see a 12 mm nut on the ebrake, you tighten that nut.

I understand that will adjust the height of the handbrake, but aren't there adjusters in the rear wheels that adjust the handbrake and actually help with the foot brake by tightening it up? The ones that adjust the brake when you go in reverse?

it has nothing to do with the height of the lever, it tightens the cables that go to the parking brake...i have not a clue what you are talking about...
I think what Jerry is saying by the height of the lever is the tightness of it, the height being how far you pull the lever. When the cable is tightened, the amount you lift it is reduced. Personally I've always adjusted the rear brake adjustors first because if they are loose and you tighten things at the handbrake then if you later replace or work on the rear brakes you will have to loosen the handbrake again. ...but once adjusting the rear brake adjustors I've always been satisfied with the handbrake travel as it is and I've never adjusted the actual handbrake adjustor as it seems the only reason that should be loose to me is if the cable gets stretched or something as the adjustors in the rear should compensate for the wear. Although this wasn't with an Insight but I can't imagine it being different because rear drums have all been similar in my experience.
