Default Oregon still pushing towards tax per mile

This idea just won't die, since cars that use less gas yield less gas tax, they are thinking of a "better" way to fund the state.

See: http://www.dhonline.com/articles/2008/1 ... 2_road.txt

I thought using less gas was good, but that's just me.

Default Re: Oregon still pushing towards tax per mile

wait...

the "issue" is that people are driving less and driving more fuel efficient cars...thus rendering the gas tax ineffective to providing enough $$ to cover the cost of maintaining the transportation system

but...as a general rule, more fuel efficient cars are lighter, hence less road wear
..and if people are driving less miles, that equal less road wear

less road wear = less need to maintain the transportation system

yes
