It's hard enough for the public to warm up to alternative fuel vehicles. Than they have to go and make them unusual looking. I've never understood why they can't make the vehicles look more like a "normal" car. The public would embrace them better.

I agree with you, but I think it all revolves around coefficient of drag, so they can maximize fuel mileage or range as much as possible.
