i'd forget the trim plastics, those are repairable. things like window motors, switches, cluster, electronics are not easily replaceable without big shipping costs.

honestly almost everything seems to last forever on these cars if you can manage to follow a DIY instructional video. the switches are rebuildable, plastics can be resoldered or glued and recovered, gauge buttons rebuildable with common switches, wipers rebuilt with common bushings, etc.

maybe grab the seat covers too? don't need the whole seat, but if the covers are good those don't last forever.

a spare 5 speed would also be a good idea, but i don't think that will quite fit.

Last week of 5 weeks in the US. We are in this part of the country to see the World of Speed museum, Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum, Mount St Helens (if weather permits), Lemay - America's Car museum, Lemay Family Collection, Museum of Flight, Boeing factory tour, Living Computer Museum, US Naval Undersea Museum.

Was just scanning Craigslist and saw an Insight being parted out with very cheap prices in Olympia. Since we have a hire car for this leg, that made the collection of some parts potentially possible.

you're not supposed to give away locations and hints at value, hopefully some hoarding vultures here don't sniff your last post out.

When you were in LA, you could have stopped by "Scott's" and picked up some rear shocks, rear springs, front springs, and the aero-panel.

Sorry we missed you.

Willie

Maybe. But Scott's front springs are inferior to the front ones I run, Scott's rear springs are the same as the Matiz ones I was first to use* in an Insight, and I have the rear shocks straight from the UK manufacturer. But I did like Scott's aero panel I saw on Sam's car.

*in fact, it is just on 10 years since I first did this spring swap, and the reaction of the Insight community was so negative I wrote a column about it - http://blog.autospeed.com/2007/01/27...ls-innovation/

Thanks for all the good suggestions but I couldn't meet with the seller - they didn't respond to emails and the available time window has now passed. Darn!

another craigslist flake

don't know why people post stuff and then never pick up or answer texts... it's like there is a group of people who like to post ads and never respond to them.
