I have been having the hardest time buying a new insight! you'd think that waving 22K in front of a dealer would make them jump, but not so much. I started off emailing and calling several dealers, including the one where I am no the waitlist for the civic hybrid - and only one called me back. So I've been dealing with him, and once he got my $200 deposit he quit calling me! no returned calls, and I'm lucky to catch him. 2 weeks ago he promised me a silver 2006 manual transmission by the end of december, and then he dropped off the face of the earth.

Yesterday he said he couldn't get me one until mid-december, so I reminded him that I had a civic hybrid coming in then (it's an embarassment of riches - I don't WANT the hybrid civic, but because I'm on the list I figured I should stay on just in case). He said he'd call back yesterday by 3PM. Nothing! I'm not sure at what point I should fire this guy and try and find someone who wants my money.

I hope y'all have been having better luck buying.

My dealer took my deposit and said he'd order it for me, but they won't even post the order until sometime in mid-December - in the meantime, he's supposed to be looking out there for what's available! If the order goes through, supposedly I get my hands on it by mid-March! But that's okay, my Geo should last that long. If I can get one early, I'll sure take it!

I think I posted this a while ago, but i ordered one about 2 months ago, expected date in january. I was explained, in great detail, that the Insights are small production and allocated by region. You can only get one when it is time for your regions allocation, and this is determined by previous years' sales. Also, the only other way to get one is if someone else in the country ordered one and did not purchase it. It is not the type of car that you can pay for and expect to walk away with. Only 3 have been bought since 1999 in my area.

I suppose in that case that dealer in Wichita Kansas found a buyer real quick! I notice he pulled his email from here in less than a day. I just called my dealer to see if he was contacted about it. Ordering it does seem to be the only way to get one.
