My Humble opinion.

The Insight ICE will outlast / last longer than 95% of Engines on the road today.

Of Course how long that is depends on allot of factors, like maintenence , driving style, Climate, etc....

With lack of poper maintenence, Bad Climate, and Sertain driving styles almost any engine can be killed in under 10,000 Miles.

On the other hand almost any engine can last well beyond 100,000 , 200,000 , or even 300,000 Miles if cared for properly, and such.

Once you reach 250-300K miles, certain things are bound to start wearing out/failing in ANY car. The Insight is no different in that respect other than the IMA system.

I've got 161,000 and no problems. It still doesn't use or leak any oil between 30,000 mile oil changes.

Assuming it's taken care of, get's oil changes and other routine preventative maintenance, you ought to be able to depend on getting 250k or more out of it. The Insight engine is a marvel of Honda engineering and has won several awards for it's design and fuel efficiency.

I'm just shy of 100k miles now. I figure it's just about broken in now.

If you want the engine to last 300,000 miles your best insurance is to use 100% synthetic oil (your choice of brand).

In Canada a car body usually disintegrates before the engine fails, but the aluminum body of the Insight should far outlast a regular steel body.
