Is the car available for parts? My fiancee and I both have Insights and we'd like to keep them in good shape.

(She's in Michigan; I travel from NYC to there pending my transition over... and I-80 is only about four hours from you).

Thanks

I'm not sure what happens to the car now. The insurance company (General Casualty, here in Wisconsin) has taken custody of it and I imagine it will go to auction.

Luck the one who picks it up, Honda replaced the IMA battery, controllers, etc about a month or two ago...

Why don't you buy an old Insight and replace its IMA with the one in your crashed car?

I'm happy that you're all right!

Try to buy the car back from the insurance company and then sell the parts to make a profit.

If by some chance you can figure out who has it (hopefully a local junk yard to you..) could you let us know? Many thanks

Default Crash Pic

I've just bought Joe Daniels old UK Insight for spares which he wrote off in a recent accident in France. The vehicle had gone off the road and struck a lamp post or something square at the front just inboard of the left hand side. The damage was severe and un-economic to repair. I'm now in the process of stripping it down, so If I can help UK owners with parts they can send me an e-mail.

Here's a pic of car after accident

Gearbox front bell housing smashed but engine looks ok, as probably are gearbox internals. Both air bags had deployed. Rest of car looks basically sound apart from scrapes etc from bushes. My intention is to completely strip vehicle and weight chassis in for scrap, I 'll squirrel the parts away for use with my two other UK cars.

I was going to ask about the headlight assmeblies, but after seeing those pictures, I think not.

The car's the wrong color (ours are red) but I might be interested in the rear skirts. They don't weigh much, so shipping, even to the US, should be reasonable.

Could you get back to me with a guesstimate? Thanks
