Default Checking out other Insights?

Hello all,
I am hoping I can find some one in my area with a 5spd Insight that I can have a look at and maybe ride in. I think I am having some problems with mine. After reading on the forums it seems it could be either clogged EGR valve, or bad LAF sensor. (leaning more towards the sensor... but of course that could mean the cat is plugged by now also...)

If I get time I will clean the EGR valve this weekend. EVO driving school on Saturday and autoX on Sunday. Not the insight of course my 97 Miata. can any one point me to the guide on cleaning the valve?

Just want to have some thing to compare what I am seeing with. never owned a car like the insight before so every thing is different to me.

So if there is any one in the Helena, or Bozeman MT area and are willing to let me check out their car, that would be awesome!

Please PM me or post a reply.

Thanks!

This procedure worked for me....

the solution was only obtained by removing the EGR solenoid valve and soaking it in WD40 for 24 hrs.

Its best to hold the solenoid with the valve facing upwards, spray the valve face and lift the valve to let the lubricant seep under.Next lay the solenoid horizontally on the bench with the rectangular port above the valve.Fill this port to overflowing with WD40.This forms a well that feeds the lubricant to the valve stem, top up occasionally over a 24 hr period and then dry off and reinstall in car ( 5 minute job), no more jerking for another couple years.
Don't forget to use a heat resistant sealer in a tube or new gasket on mateing surfaces when reinstalling.

Well, I have a 5 spd, but I'm located a few hundreds miles to the south of you in Pocatello. I also suspect I might be having some egr valve issues, though I can use mima to mask it. Maybe I'll pull mine tomorrow and clean it.
