At a stop light the guy next to me asked about my Insight (yes, for the first time in over a year---FINALLY!). I got the typical "How many MPGs do you get in that?" (I love autostop. It enables you to have conversations with other motorists while on the road .) Once I told him the Insight wasn't produced after 2006, he stated, "They need to start producing that car again." He's preaching to the choir on that one. They're once again producing the Delorean in 2008 for the first time since 1983. At least we can hope. It's hard being an "eternal optiminst."

Sorry to say it but I don't think Honda would ever bring the Insight back, the aluminum panels, skirts etc. etc. They could have brought back other cars by now that were great and would be more efficient today (i.e. think of a hybrid Del Sol) but unfortunately they won't go back to past triumphs, especially those that did not have big mfg runs. It's all about low manufacturing costs and profit(and at least for honda - safety). The Insight simply was and always will be a special gift from Honda, and those of us that have them are lucky indeed.
Now if all of us could get together, start a car company, unlike Delorean and kick some mpg butt in the market. How about "Hindsight Motors"

They won't though. The car was too expensive to produce, and cost them far too much to support. Even now I don't think they will sell very well to the vast majority of the public. The best we can hope for is a car "similar to" the Insight using the stuff they've learned from the Civic Hybrid and Accord Hybrid. It may be a "better" car then the Insight but it won't get the same mileage.

Well, sort of. DMC Houston is building a limited number of "new build" cars using the significant stock of parts they have. The price is rather high, and they are limited because some parts simply will not be available any more (such as left front fenders, front crumple tubes, etc.). With a base price of $57,000 for what is essentially a brand new old DeLorean, their target audience is rather limited to those with more money then sense. For that price at the very least I would expect a modern EFI engine with a little more then 130HP and much improved frame.
Um, you mean the "Ad Example", with a phone number of 123-456-7890? I admit I was a bit confused at first... after all, the Aptera isn't produced yet! (A friend of mine, fellow Insight owner, has put down a deposit for one -- I can't wait to see it!).
