What would happen in the Insight? Probably nothing much. I had a blowout at 70+, and all that happened was that the ride got a bit rough. This wasn't a small puncture or tread separation, either, but some piece of road debris that put a 2" triangular hole in the sidewall.

You have to remember that the Insight is not one of those "safe" SUVs, with their waterbed-like handling and a center of gravity so high that they roll at the slightest provocation. I've had a handful of similar incidents over the years, all in small, low-slung cars, and it was never a big deal. This is the flip side of the sensitive handling that makes the car dart around a bit: you can correct for problems, instead of over-correcting and making them worse.
