Soley- glad you had a safe trip. In a sea of prii out there, you're sure to garner some attention. Just try not laugh too much when prius owners boast about their *impressive* 50 mpg

Yeah, I've always been the same way...never ran a front plate...even back in New York. I did get pulled over for that once...and ticketed in New York... and again in California (Malibu) with a fix-it ticket. So, I finally caved and put the front plates on all my cars. When I bought the Insight, I just didn't want a plate on that smooth looking front end. Didn't have any trouble until I left the car in the parking lot at LAX for a weekend. I got a PARKING ticket in the PARKING lot...for not having a front licence plate! Okay...I give up.

My 2000 Insight has been a California car for its whole life. The previous owner told me after 7 years of ownership, he had never been hassled or ticketed for not having the front license plate displayed. He would just keep it in the trunk (front bracket and all).

I'd had the car for about 2 weeks before I got a ticket in Miracle Mile when parked at a meter (the meter wasn't expired, but they dinged me for a lack of front plate anyway).

Oh well, it's on there now, and I never think twice about having it anymore.

Yeah, I don't think about the front plate any more either. ...and as it turns out, I'm getting the best mileage I've seen since I bought the car 35000 miles ago. I'm getting 72MPG tanks regularly...WITH the front plate on.
