Damn, at that price or even a little more I would consider selling mine. Using that money and picking up a used Prius and doing EV / battery mods would be very tempting.

I've been looking for Insights everywhere online, and this is the best bargin I've found yet. I wish I could buy it for the kbb value, but that's impossible until at least the winter (I have a feeling the gas prices will peak this summer next week, Jul 4, and fall in the fall).

I guess it's a bad time to buy an Insight, but it's rare to see any in NJ. Plus, I'd hate to give up my Impala with 70k for a car with twice the mileage. Question: Do Insights run up the cost of your insurance because they are made of aluminum.

no insurance premium for aluminum. I have comprehensive insurance through state farm in nj, and it is $90 on a family plan with 5 insurance points. In april when the points clear, I think it will be about $70. I am a 29 year old male.

Phanius, I found the one you are talking about, and I would absolutely grab it if it seems sound. It is truly amazing how everyone on so many different forums and craigslist are looking for an insight right now. When I was looking in december and january, there were insights with comparable mileage for like $6000 that weren't selling on craigslist even after a month on craigslist. I would call about month old ads, and they were still unsold. I doubt such reasonably priced insights are sitting so long. It took a few weeks for me even back then before the market went nuts to find one that wasn't wildly over priced in the ny/nj area. I finally found one in nearby connecticut in january on craigslist. There were a couple in nj on craigs that were going for 12 and 13k even back in january before everyone wanted one all of a sudden. This insight you found sounds like you need to jump on it asap. Be sure to call American Honda at 1 800 999 1009 with the VIN before even looking at it.

I don't think the mileage matters much on the insight. The motors appear to be pretty reliable without much mention of any fatal flaws or "grenades." I do know that the suspension is crap and needs attention rather early. In California, it seems that hybrid cars don't require SMOG checks which means a lot for anyone who knows anything about engine swaps and drag racing.
