Another post has inspired me to start a thread dedicated to our best FCD pics over longer distances. We all know that it is easy to show huge numbers over short distances, so lets limit these pics to 100 miles and above. Also include any details relevant to your accomplishment. I myself have found it nearly impossible to reach the magic 75mpg mark and keep it there for long distances, but I have gotten close! I might have made it except that I had to stop for gas. I wasn't able to get it back.
This pic represents a trip through the flats of Florida on my way to Ohio. Other pics show I was doing the speed limit or just below (70 mph). I run 89 octane and tires are at 45psi. I have a MT and have 185k on the engine. Battery had just been rebuilt by Ron.

Had over One hundred four till the Flint Hills stretch and fought the last twenty miles to get it back to One hundred. This is sitting in the driveway, so close...
Warm summer afternoon, no wind, 60# in tires, before tps mod, and speed held around 50mph +/-3mph.

That is sick! I fought so hard for 75... It's time to make some serious changes. Tomorrow I'm takin the syt to get the oil changed and am havin them change the tranny oil too ($7 a quart at the dealer ). I am also checking around for the last underbody panel I'm missing (main engine panel) and may bump the tire pressure up to 50 for the upcomming trip. That should be good enough to get me over 76-77 or so, but 100...

Yes, that was an extreme effort and it will probably be some time before I attempt to drive halfway across Kansas at 50mph again. In 22,000 miles I have only averaged 64.4mpg. I travel up to 300 miles from home in all directions so different roads all the time and with appointments to keep there is not always the luxury of taking my time. I am making a conscious effort more than 95% of the time. There are those times when I'm doing 80 down the Interstate though, and if it's warm I may still manage 65mpg.
I had a 75mpg 725mile tank in September at highway speed limits but my last tank was 56.4mpg because the 250miles home was in a cold rain the entire distance and 65mph. That hurt because I've raised the lmpg of the car from 55.9 to 58.0 since I bought it and that was the wrong direction.
74mpg at 70mph is pretty dang good in my book.
I just got back from the service center. The Insight has been labeled "absolutly perfect". The tranny oil was said to be "clear as water" which is good news but also means I will see no gains. Guess I'm just going to hafta slow it down to get better numbers (in Tampa, 70mph means 80). I do still have an underbody panel missing but it's best if I find it local as the shipping would be insane for something of that size.
How about others? I know there must be others that see great numbers and snap pics with their phones...

do you run the a/c during highway driving?
Are your tires inflated more than 35psi?
how many miles on the car? Is wheel alignment good? Brakes not dragging?
many things that can contribute to bad gas mileage, but I dont understand how you get better mpg in city though...
