Thank you! First one I have seen on the passenger side. Looked for about 10 minutes in the car before hitting the forum.

Just was looking mine as well - 2001 CVT. Found it on the driver's side - yes, maybe a MT vs CVT difference.

Yes, the last digits in the VIN is the unit number for that year.

I have;

2000 #4765
2001 #447
2001 #1279

Cool. Your car was produced just 12 units before my first Insight!

I've always thought it would be cool to have sequential serial numbers.

Default last four digits don't tell the tale of manufacture sequence

[EDIT: deleted previous in consideration I was in error and missed point on year designation and the last four digits]
...mine must be 225th then produced 08/'00.]
there could be 7 "0225" running around.

[OT but: another sticker on the door jam cautions about repainting and heating the car in a baking oven to dry the paint as a hazard to the IMA battery, perhaps useful to remember.]

Here's a pic of the OBDII location on a manual '00 to the side of where the passenger's left foot may rest.

I noticed that in the PDF FSM scans available here, that the car is #54 in the pictures where you can see the VIN. It would be cool to have a car with unit numbers that low.

I wonder if they started at 1? Or if it was like a doctor having no first patient, and they started at like 10 or something?
