Question Obdii help!

Can someone please tell me where the OBD scanner connection is and if it's like a normal one? At the dealer I saw the tech connect his on the passenger side but when I look I don't see anything that looks like the one I'm used to seeing on either side.

Yes, it is on the passenger side of the center console, a bit behind it in the gap between the firewall and console.

I believe only the 2000 model and perhaps the 2001 model years have OBD connector on the passenger side. All later years have the connector on the drivers side close to your right knee area and only inches away from the center console.

OK. Thanks. Does it look like a normal connector? Like the ones on my GM's?

Don't know your definition of normal but I imagine that each manufacture has to meet a certain requirement so the same hardware can be connected. Here is an illustraction of what the connector looks like in the Insight:

OBDII - On-Board Diagnostic's System - Does My Car Have OBD-II? The Connector and Communications.

It also shows a description of the pinout

I can confirm that 2001 has it on the passenger side.

Mine (#2554) has it just under the steering wheel, on the left side... a running model change? Huh...

I guess I better use a flashlight then. As I said the tech at the dealer just reached over from the drivers seat and plugged in. I took it to a parts store to see if there were any codes yet and we couldn't find it.

I am apparently blind

Must be. I have #284 and it's on the passenger side. I have the Scangauge plugged in right now. Maybe it's a MT vs CVT issue?

FOUND IT!!! I have a MT but it's not just hanging down off the dash like I expected. Kinda tucked away at an angle behind the console closer to the floor.
