Default Warranty problem

Unless the car was one of the very few originally purchased in late 1999 or Jan/Feb 2000, they should cover it. Even if that's the case, you may be able to get Honda to cover it if you push the issue with them. It may only be a few days/weeks out of warranty?! Make sure the vehicle does not have a salvage title, or you're SOL.

What is the "in service" date for your car?

Ask the dealer directly. He can find this easily with your VIN. It's in his best interest to do this for you, because if it's a true warranty replacement, he gets some shop time for one of his workers and American Honda picks up the tab. Once you have your In Service date, then you can figure out what angle Honda is using to deny your warranty.

They tried this nonsense with me last year.

Well they told you WRONG. The 10/150K warranty or 12/12k warranty applies, whichever is _longer_.

Yours being a 2000 model, its in service date could have been anywhere from September 1999 through - ? (although rarely into 2001). So the 10 year limit likely applies.

You _need_ to establish the "In Service" date and then work from there.

HTH!

It doesn't matter how many times the battery is replaced. The warranty is on the CAR for 10 years. The battery is a part of the warrantied CAR and it has no warranty of its' own.

This might apply for a battery that is purchased rather than provided through the warranty of the car. I'd be surprised to see a battery provided under warranty from Honda go before a year or 12k miles is up unless it was subjected to some serious heat or other abuse if it was a battery used in service. I suppose there are exceptions to this though considering that the warranty provided battery isn't new and there could be mistakes along the way done by Honda.
