Anyone use the Exedy Stage 1 clutch kit in their Insight?
I was looking around and found a pretty decent deal on the Exedy clutch kit for the Insight. Clutch disc, pressure plate, release bearing, pilot bearing, and alignment tool for about $200 shipped. Exedy (Daiken) is the OEM manufacturer for Honda and they typically include Nachi or NTN bearings (also OEM manufacturer for Honda). Just curious if anyone else has used one of these kits. I'm going to put a clutch kit in the car because the release bearing is starting to make a little noise. Going to replace ISB, ISB seal, and carrier bearings while it's all out, along with the axle seals and 1-2 synchros/synchro springs.
I changed my clutch about a month ago, and used the Exedy clutch kit from ebay. I am not sure if its the stage1 that you are talking about, but its this one:
It seems good to me. For the first 500 or so miles it was very grabby, but now its smoothed out and pretty much the same as a new stock clutch. But their kit included the wrong size ISB.

Yes, pretty much the same kit. Wonder if all of the kits have the wrong size pilot bearing? If so, I'll just get one on the way from Honda. You are talking about pilot bearing (that goes on the tip of the input shaft), right? Not release bearing I hope.
Did they do anything to get you the right one or did you just order one through Honda?
Thanks for the input on the clutch feel; I wanted to get something that was nice and light once broken in.

Yes, I was talking about the Input Shaft Bearing or Pilot Bearing (that goes in the flywheel). I didn't bother to get a replacement one from them, since I noticed my original one was fine and didnt replace it. But they sell them at auto stores for like ~$12.

ISB = Input shaft bearing, thank you very much.
CV boots ... are the driveshafts removed to replace clutch? If so, where the CV boots replaced?
Yes the driveshafts have to be removed to get the transmission off, to change the clutch. CV Boots dont really have to be replaced unless they are damaged.

Well, I get a good deal on Honda parts so I went ahead and just got all new OEM. New flywheel, TOB, ISB, ISB seal, Pilot bearing, clutch disc, and pressure plate. When I do the clutch I also plan on putting a different trans on as I already have the ISB/ISB seal in it. Hopefully, this will make things a bit quicker. it will also allow me to go through the trans currently in the car at my leisure.
