Kansas is not that flat. Please don't perpetuate this uninformed myth griffga. This has been debunked, with most scientists ranking Kansas somewhere between 20th and 30th flattest state, depending on measurement method. Florida takes the cake for flattest. I have to look for roads that follow river valleys to find anything remotely flat. You've obviously never been through the Flint Hills(which contain some of the last native prairie remaining in the States, beautiful scenery) or the glacial till that covers NE Kansas, The Smokey Hills in the NW or the Red Hills down in southern Kansas. Kansas elevation is higher than 36 states. Minnesota is flatter in my memory of canoe trips out of Ely when I was a kid.
