Default Need help! Custom made floor and cargo mats

I recently bought a 2000 MT Insight and it did not come with any mats and Honda no longer sells any mats.

So here is what I'm wanting to do. I want to have some custom mats made that look OEM or better. I found a site that will make them but they will need the patterns just to be sure of a good fit.

Since I dont have any mats to trace out a pattern I need someone here that has the mats to give me some exact dimensions for both driver side and passenger side mats for a manual transmission Insight.

I can get the dimensions for the cargo area myself.

The last thing I will need is a high resolution image of the Insight logo. I think I can do this myself.

My plan is to make the mats look OEM except for the passenger side. The OEM passenger side mat just had the Honda logo on it but I think I will put the Insight logo on the passenger side.

If anyone can help me out please reply or PM me. This may take a while of back and fourth communications to get the dimensions right. With any luck we will be able to get some floor mats made that look OEM.

I have a brand new yet to be installed set for my 2000 Insight. When I bought my car (used) it too came with none so I ordered 2 sets, one to save for later when the first set gets ratty. I've been through the "we don't sell those anymore" routine with a previous vehicle, and aftermarket mats are never quite as nice.

I'm about ready to dig that second set out of my garage rafters. I could send you tracings if you like. That would probably be better than trying to communicate measurements.

Tracings would be great! Or if you wanted to send me your old mats I could send them off to the company so they can make an exact match. I would pay you for them of course.

Okay then. I'll make tracings of the new ones, and if you really want my old grungy ones you're welcome to have the drivers side mat as that's the one that's really worn out. I planned to save the passenger side mat as a backup. Let me know and email me your mailing address.

Sounds like a great idea. Perhaps the vendor would be willing to make additional sets for other customers? How much?

Default floor mats

I'm sure you know this already, but just in case you don't.... You can still buy floor mats for the 2005-06 models. I believe they are the same as the 2000-04 except a lighter grey color. I don't know how "bad" they would look in the darker interior. I'm sure someone has put the newer mats in an older Insight. They can comment on how they look. By the way, I have an 06, and both drivers and passenger mats say "Insight" on them.

It's my understanding they are a tan color, the newer interior color. Just made me wonder if they could perhaps be dyed grey to work in the early models?
