These are given out when a member breaches forum posting rules or posts things which are consistently factually incorrect. In this instance the infraction was given due to the consistently wrong information given by the member in a number of earlier posts and was not specific to the post mentioned.
Posting wrong information annoys members, gives incorrect information to less experienced users, brings the forum into disrepute and devalues it's usefulness as an internet resource.
Infraction points are given out by moderators and admins, me in this case.

If they are, they're laughing at us for entirely different reasons.
The BCM is much, much more complex than most of us comprehend. Portraying it as some dumb instrument that can barely keep a battery alive on it's own is a pretty gross mischaracterization, and isn't the case at all.
We'll likely never understand the true scope of it unless a Honda engineer actually spells it out though.

On that subject yea, the web is widely used for feedback and agenda. It's called P.R work in the new age.
In the boxing forums promoter run a match up articles and Gage attendance and interest from a few sites.
CEO look for advice online in the low consumer camcorder I wrote a piece after Sony had a huge lost of market shares article. I've got Sony to design a better and solid LED hinge. by a long comments explanation and a example of a low cam with a quality good hinges. and theirs feel like its will break off next week. it's the second important in decision of the purchase. hinges spell quality. And it's can't be a coincidence they totally redesign the whole line LED hinges and made it 3 times wider and it's now has the rubber bounce and solid feel of quality.
hybrid are tolerated as money loser because of governments C.A.F.E mpg requirements. Not sure because they change it every year, but was added to help the hard to obtain mpg numbers that they can carry mpg credits over to a group of different lower preforming vehicle to average out the fleet and not pay penalties. think it's was taylor for G.M and it's gas sucking fleets
UPDATE: Now I've got a CEL and no assist. Honda is still mulling it over.
ETA: Honda called me back. Because I chipped in $300 towards the battery, I get a 3 year warranty. If they had covered the entire cost, it would have been only one year. If they replace the battery again, the warranty will be for the balance of the three years from the first replacement or one year, whichever is greater.

MaxIMA Battery (Serial #2), on 8/25/12 @ 301,520 miles
Use: 320,000 mi. @ 57.8 LMPG
I agree that Honda probably reads our posts, but it is totally subjective, no "proof" that Honda monitors this site, but my other car supplier, BMW, has factory rep's looking at what is posted.
Honda did replace my IMA battery with a minimal charge on my part, even though it was over 10 years since initial purchase. I didn't even ask them if it was "new," assumed that it was a rebuilt, but they were very coureous in sharing the cost.
Honda does have a vested interest in treated 1gen owners well because we will probably buy another car or 3 in our lifetimes, and I am more likely to buy a car from a company that treats me right. My experience With Honda America was actually just great.

The Honda dealer that replaced my battery knows about insightcentral.com now because I knew too much about the car after lurking here for several months. I gave them the URL too.
The service guy said that the batteries were certified but not new when I asked him. I have no complaint since the price was right.
I'm sure that Honda is a reasonable company and they know that previous owners do spread the word about their cars. And that might translate into sales of the newer models (if not by us at least by other people).
So a goodwill battery exchange is probably not too steep a calculated risk for them.
Another update ... I reset the IMA light the weekend before last and yesterday it came back on. This morning Holler Honda verified that the battery needed to be replaced and that it was covered.
I re-verified that I had been informed correctly regarding the warranty on the refurbished IMA battery: If you pay towards the out-of-warranty repair, you get three years; if Honda covers the entire thing, you get one year.
The battery should get here in a day or so. I'm going to get the drive belts done while it's in there because I was too lazy to do that with the other 90,000 mile service items.
If I can get out of the warranty period with this battery, then I'll slap a Mike D grid charger on there and hopefully get some decent life out of the thing.
